Welcome to the Corning-Kakegawa, Japan Sister Cities!

The Corning-Kakegawa Sister Cities Association was founded in 1989. Our Sister City relationhip emerged out of the business relationship that was being cultivated between Osuka village and Corning Incorporated. After establishing a branch plant in Osuka, Corning Inc. decided to expand their business relationship into one that united both communities in a more cultural way. For the past sixteen years, our two communities have sponsored annual exchange visits, cultural events focusing on one another's home country, as well as many other activities. In April of 2005, Osuka village merged with Kakegawa city and is now part of Kakegawa. We look forward to many more years of fun, new friends, and bridging cultures through community.

Kimono Shops:

Japan-Yamatoku Vintage Kimono shop:

Anyone interested in buying very nice quality authentic kimono, at bargain prices, should look no further than the Yamatoku Vintage Kimono shop. They have an online shop at http://www.yamatoku.jp/classic/. The selection of mint condition used kimono is outstanding and the customer service is wonderful. I myself have at least twelve kimono from Yamatoku and highly recommend their store. Shipping prices are reasonable considering they are coming all the way from Japan and it only takes on average about three days for your order to arrive.

Binghamton, USA- Kyoto Kimono

For a wide range of Kimono, kimono fabric, and textile art items, Kyoto Kimono offers the very best in used kimono. Their website is at http://www.kyotokimono.com/ and they operate out of Binghamton, NY. Their products are specifically chosen in Japan and shipped to the U.S. for sale to discriminating buyers.
